Lately I am surrounded by troubled marriages. It's quite disheartening. Do vows mean anything? A friend suggested that we've gone through the marriage phase, the baby phase, and now we're in for the divorce phase. How depressing.
Fortunately I have a great marriage, but I wish and hope the same for those around me. Why is marriage so hard for some? What makes mutual respect so difficult? Marriage is definitely under attack, and I pray for strength for those which are seemingly crashing down.

Don't be disheartened...marriage is hard work where there are ups & downs. Perfection would be boring. That which does not end the marriage will only make it stronger in the end. Feel blessed that you have a wonderful marriage...but don't be saddened by the state of marriage. Some marriages may be different from yours and experience more hard times but it doesn't mean they aren't wonderful in the big picture. You guys are blessed to be able to have so much alone time...that helps a lot. Anyways...don't be discouraged...God is working in even the worst of situations that attack couples...believe me...HE is ALWAYS there:)!!!
As someone who has been divorced and remarried let me just say...marriage is VERY hard. But, the trials and tribulations are what build up your marriage. No marriage is without hard times (those who claim to never have hard times are either in denial OR fake it...I was a faker in my frist marriage). It is how you choose to act in those hard times that counts. Admitting problems in a marriage does not make a marriage troubled...it makes it NORMAL! Shana said it better I think.
